Title: Manager, Facilities and Space Planning
Location: Office of Legislative Services, Administrative Unit
State House Annex, West State Street

Annual Salary: Commensurate with experience
The Office of Legislative Services (OLS) is an agency of the New Jersey Legislature established by law to provide professional, nonpartisan staff support services to the Legislature including its officers, members, committees and commissions. OLS operates under the authority of the Legislative Services Commission, a 16-member bipartisan panel with equal representation from each House of the Legislature. Direct services to legislators and their staff include:
• general, legal, and fiscal research and analysis
• bill drafting
• formulation of legal opinions
• preparation of fiscal notes
• audits of State departments, agencies and programs
• committee staffing
• distribution of bills and legislative documents
• computerized information management
• legislative library and reference services
• administrative and district office services
• oversight of legislative facilities in Trenton and district offices located throughout New Jersey
• human resources program management
• ceremonial resolution drafting
• public information and visitor services.
The goal of OLS is to facilitate the work of the New Jersey Legislature, and to enable and promote public understanding of the legislative process. As non-partisan employees of the Legislature, OLS staff are prohibited from engaging in political activity or taking a public position with regard to any matter before the Legislature.
Description: Reporting to the Director of Administration, exercises independent initiative and judgement in providing facilities, space planning, historic preservation and interior design services in the Capitol Complex and approximately 120 District Offices located throughout the State.
Education: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Academic work in interior design, project management, historic preservation or architecture is preferred.
A master’s degree in any of these disciplines may substitute for two years of required experience, as listed below.
Experience: Five years of professional and increasingly responsible experience in interior design, space planning, project management, furniture specification and facilities management, including two years of managerial experience.
License: Must possess a driver’s license valid in the State of New Jersey
Residency: All persons newly hired by the Office of Legislative Services shall have one year from the date of employment to establish, and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey. New Jersey State employees hired prior to September 1, 2011 who transfer from another State of New Jersey appointing authority without a break in service greater than seven days but who reside outside the State of New Jersey are not required to change their principal residence to New Jersey.
